How to Optimize Your Shopify Website for Google Searches

If you are an e-commerce business owner, then you are probably already familiar with Shopify.
For those of you who have never heard of Shopify, chances are that you’ve most likely used the platform without even realizing it while doing your online shopping.
Shopify is a secure online platform used by e-commerce businesses to build their websites complete with product and service pages. It allows customers to perform safe transactions on their favourite brand websites. To boost your brand rankings on Google and other search engines, it is important to work on optimizing your Shopify website.

What You Need to Know about Shopify SEO

The number one thing you need to know about SEO in general, not just on Shopify, is that content is king. More importantly, organic content is king.
For a lot of brands, organic content marketing is their bread and butter when it comes to SEO, whether they realize it or not. Shopify already has specific features that can help you manage your online store traffic and the content that appears on it. Be sure to use all of the applicable features to your advantage, so that you can enhance the user experience on your website as much as possible.
Here are some great tips that I’ve picked up to help my clients make the most out of their Shopify SEO strategies.

Optimize Your Store Structure

Much like a brick-and-mortar store, the organization is incredibly important in the online realm. If customers have a hard time navigating your website, finding what they are looking for, or the pages take too long to load, they’ll most likely just leave.
Organizing your website platform makes it easier for search engines to crawl your web pages for relevant search content, which positively impacts your rankings.

Satisfy Your Customer Needs

A well-organized and maintained website makes it easier for customers to find exactly what they are looking for in record time. This minimizes the potential for frustration and ensures that transactions go as smoothly as possible.

Make Product Recommendations

Shopify has the option to offer collections or product and service recommendations based on past purchases, webpage views, and to complement current orders or transactions.
The more recommendations you offer as add-ons at a discounted rate or as a bundle, the higher your revenues will be. Grouping certain products together also create more SEO opportunities by integrating more keywords organically into your content, which helps your search rankings.

Research Target Keywords

Use appropriate brand-related keywords in your website content at every turn. Content should be rich with appropriately placed keywords.
Avoid keyword stuffing, though, as this is a black hat SEO tactic for which Google will penalize your website.

Optimize Product Pages for SEO

Once you have selected the most relevant keywords and content topics for your website, it is time to start optimizing your product pages.
Include optimized titles and subheadings for each product page along with brief product descriptions that organically integrate keywords. Write keyword-optimized meta descriptions or tags that aptly summarize each product page to encourage users to click on your links.
